[MedcoopNet] - Understanding Cooperation Dynamics in the Mediterranean
Projects
Cooperation in the Mediterranean area
13 January 2025 - 13 June 2026
EUR 234,651.00
The Mediterranean region faces complex challenges, from climate change and digital transformation to social inclusion, all impacting economic, social, and territorial cohesion. MedCoopNet aims to provide a clear, evidence-based understanding of how projects and organisations collaborate across the Mediterranean to address these issues. Understanding who is working together, what they are working on, and where is essential.
This initiative will map the evolving landscape of collaboration, highlighting key actors and their networks. Analysing how projects align with global goals like the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and regional priorities will enhance governance frameworks and make them more effective. Looking towards the next funding period beyond 2027, the analysis will identify trends and gaps in cooperation, aiding policymakers in informed decision-making. A comprehensive database of projects and organizations, alongside interactive dashboards and maps, will be developed to visualize and analyze cooperation patterns.
MedCoopNet will build a comprehensive database by gathering data on projects funded by programs like Interreg and Horizon Europe, creating a central resource for understanding Mediterranean cooperation. Using a detailed system that incorporates SDGs and regional priorities, the project will analyse how projects contribute to sustainability and address key challenges. The project will map geographical and thematic patterns of collaboration, examining the role of different funding instruments and the alignment of projects with policy goals. The project will create dashboards and maps that allow stakeholders to explore cooperation data and identify key trends. With at least 20 maps and case studies, the project will provide an in-depth analysis of specific aspects of cooperation.
Key outputs
- A detailed database of Mediterranean cooperation projects and organisations.
- Longitudinal datasets tracking organisational participation and regional indicators.
- Analytical reports and maps visualising cooperation patterns and trends.
- An interactive dashboard for exploring key indicators and supporting policy decisions.
MedCoopNet will empower stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of funding programs, strengthen governance frameworks, promote sustainable development in the Mediterranean region, and provide clear data to help with the next programming period. Ultimately, MedCoopNet aims to foster a more cohesive and sustainable Mediterranean future through its detailed analysis of cooperation dynamics.
