The Latvian ESPON Contactpoint (the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia) is organizing an online seminar on 18 October 2024, "Data and digital tools for planning."

The event fits under the TAP Governance of new geographies and targets planners and policymakers who are interested in planning and policy development opportunities provided by big data, thematic spatial data, and digital tools already available in Latvia and in development.

The main goal of the event is to expand the audience's perspective on resources available for better evidence-based planning and policymaking and to encourage participants to take up and use new digital skills in addressing new and future geographies. 

During the event the ESPON projects BIG DATA and QGasSP will be introduced. Additionally, a Latvian "small data" experience will be put into the context of big data potentials outlined in the BIG DATA presentation, and several local digital spatial data tools will be shown.

The event will be mainly in Latvian. However, project presentations will be held in English. (no live translation will be made available).
